FITNESS BOXING

Whether you want a fun way to get and stay in shape, or you have a desire to compete, this is the place to start. All fitness and experience levels are welcome. This is a non-contact class. The hour-long classes are a mix of traditional boxing routines with a focus on proper technique and form. Boxing exercises incorporate heavy bag, speed bag and double-end bag work, as well as shadowboxing, mitts and conditioning circuits.

PERSONAL TRAINING

Your personal training experience will be tailored to your individual needs and goals. Whether you want to lose weight, build strength or muscle, sharpen your boxing skills, or simply desire a more personal environment with one on one attention. 

Personal training can also be tailored for athletes in any sport wanting a competitive edge.  Clients will also receive nutritional advice along with BMI and Body Fat monitoring. Sessions can be shared with another person.

YOUTH BOXING

Boxing is a great way for kids to get and stay healthy, gain confidence and learn self-discipline. Boxing is excellent cross training for other sports. Our Youth Boxing Program is for kids ages 7-14. In this one-hour class your child will learn the fundamentals of boxing and hone their skills. It's also the place to begin if your child is interested in competition. Sparring is optional and only with approval of the coach.

READY TO FIGHT

Our Ready to Fight Parkinson's-specific Boxing Program is the official therapy-boxing program of USA Boxing. Exercise has been shown to improve physical function, quality of life, cardiovascular fitness, cognition and balance for individuals with Parkinson's. Boxing exercises are particularly well-suited to address the specific symptoms of Parkinson's disease.

COMPETITION BOXING

The Engine Room Boxing Team is a highly trained squad of athletes and we have a great reputation, not only for our ability inside the ring, but with the way in which we conduct ourselves outside the ring. Attitude, grades, attendance, and conditioning are all things you will required to maintain, not only make the team, but to stay on the team.

Getting started @ The Engine Room

Joining the Engine Room is easy! All that you need to do is show up to the gym at least 10 minutes before your first class time, go to the front desk and check in. If you do not have handwraps you can buy a set from our Pro Shop for $10. Trial Classes are free, and walk-ins are completely welcome!

Do I need any Special Equipment? 
You will need a pair of handwraps ($10) and boxing gloves ($65) These can be purchased at our pro shop.

I've never boxed before, can I take a class?
Absolutely! The instructors in our classes give each
boxer individualized attention. All fitness and 
experience levels are encouraged to participate
in our classes. 

Will I get hit? 
Only if you are interested in actually sparring/competing and cleared to do so by a coach. For more information on competition boxing, please visit www.usaboxing.org

David Perez, Trainer

Danny Skipper, Team Coach 

Terrance Reed, Trainer

Pro boxer David Perez has been with the Engine Room since 2018. Perez is bilingual (English, Spanish). In addition to leading many of our boxing classes, Perez is available for personal training
Coach Skipper is a licensed USA Boxing coach and the head coach of our Competition Boxing Team. Throughout his career, Coach Skipper has trained numerous amateur and professional fighters, including several nationally-ranked boxers.
​A trainer at the Engine Room since 2020, Terrance Reed has been boxing over half of his life, with over 100 amateur fights on his record. In addition to leading many of our boxing classes, Reed is available for personal training.

Wendell Armstrong, Trainer

Aaron Sloan, Owner

Wendell Armstrong has been around boxing gyms all his life. A master of the mitts, Armstrong helps train and corner our Engine Room Competition Team Boxers.
Aaron Sloan is a registered cardiac nurse, President of the Kansas-Oklahoma Golden Gloves franchise, President of the Oklahoma LBC, and a USA Boxing-certified coach, judge and referee. He is licensed with the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission and is a licensed promoter. Sloan is also the developer of Ready to Fight Parkinson’s Specific program, the official therapy-boxing program of USA Boxing. A tech-enthusiast, Sloan is the owner/founder of Engine Room VR.
